Today is the day I go to the homestay and meet my host-mother and fellow student! After the taxi ride across town, I met Rebecca (the other student) at the door of our homestay. Actually, its the door to the court where our homestay is, because once inside there is a little cobblestone alley which we took to the last house, our homestay! I didn't expect anything like it! Our host-mother greeted us, and is very friendly and nice. Her home is beautiful, with lots of art around. Her kitchen is yellow with cupboards covering the fridge and the dishwasher (prettier than showing the metal appliances in my opinion). We talk over espresso (well, I tried my best to follow the conversation). She showed us around, the bathroom that Rebecca and I will use, and our rooms. I love my room, it is very cute. Also, I have a window overlooking a bamboo garden. Before lunch I was able to unpack a bit.
At lunch our host-mother's nephew joined us. The food was delicious, but I'm still lacking in following French. Afterwards I took a walk, did some reading, and took a nap. When our host-mother returned home she let us use her telephone to call home (she has free calling to the US! And a washing machine! And Wifi! C'est parfait!). For dinner her brother joined us. The dinner was delicious, and afterwards our host-mother went over tomorrow's plans. Well, she told Rebecca and Rebecca told me, because I had a hair in my eye that I needed to get out. Anyways, tomorrow we go to the first day of our program!
Au demain
